As urologists, our physicians are highly trained to treat disorders of the male and female urinary tract (bladder, ureter, kidney, and urethra) and the male reproductive system. Urology is classified as a surgical subspecialty, but since a wide variety of clinical problems are encountered when treating urological conditions, knowledge of internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, and other specialties is required.

Members of our medical staff include the following physicians:

Randy D. Hassler, M.D.

Dr. Hassler received his undergradutate degree from Kansas State University in 1967. He continued his studies at the University of Kansas School of Medicine where he earned his medical degree in 1971. Dr. Hassler then went to the Maricopa County General Hospital where he completed his internship in 1972. He finished his Post Graduate training with the Wilford Hall Medical Center, where he served his urology residency from 1974 to 1978. Dr. Hassler has been in private practice with the Salina Medical Center since 1979.

Dr. Hassler has served in the United States Air Force, where he was a flight surgeon at the Kirtland AFB from 1972 to 1974. Dr. Hassler also served as the chief of urology at the Eglin USAF Regional Hospital from 1974 to 1978.

Dr. Hassler is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology. He is a member of many national and regional medical societies, including the The Saline County Medical Society, the Kansas Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the American Urological Association, and the American College of Clinical Urologists.

William D. Mauch, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Mauch attended the University of Kansas for both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. In 1985, he received his bachelor of science degree in organismal biology. He then attended the university's School of Medicine where he earned his medical degree in 1989. Dr. Mauch served both his internship and his residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. He completed his internship in 1990 and went on to serve his urology residency from 1990 to 1994.

Dr. Mauch is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is very active in the field of urology and has presented his work at meetings of the Wisconsin Urolgical Society and the American Urological Association.

Dr. Mauch is a member of many national and regional medical societies, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Urological Association, the Kansas Medical Society, and the Saline County Medical Society.

Brian G. Smith, M.D.

Dr. Smith graduated from Arizona State University in 1994 with a B.S. in psychology. He studied medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and received his M.D. in May, 1998. He continued his medical studies at the University of Oklahoma where he performed his surgical internship. He then finished his post graduate training with a urology residency at the University of Oklahoma Department of Urology.

Dr. Smith specializes in pediatric urology and laparoscopic urology. Laparoscopy is a procedure that is less invasive than traditional surgery and is often associated with less discomfort and quicker recovery times than traditional surgery.

Dr. Smith is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the American Urological Association, the Kansas Medical Society, and the Salina County Medical Society.

D. Allen Shrader, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. D. Allen Shrader is a Kansas native. He attended the University of Kansas for his undergraduate and graduate degrees. Dr. Shrader received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1970. He served his internship at the Maricopa County Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. His residency was served at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque. He served in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1973.

He was in a solo practice in Lewiston, Idaho, before joining Salina Urology Associates, P.A., in July of 2006.

Dr. Shrader is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
